Wow. LONG TIME.
Right now, tracking basics for the great eclectic Brooklyn band Yeasayer - they're in the Magpie Cage for a total of 4 days tracking bass, drums, guitar, and whatever overdubs will be properly flattered by my room and mics ... but that is just the beginning for them, they are taking these tracks away to their workshop and I think whatever comes out will probably be a total transformation. I'm psyched to hear what comes out of a band whose influences range from Brian Eno to Popol Vuh to Appalachian hymnals even though (or even because?) in this case I am pretty much just the engineer.
Over the past couple of months, I've been working on projects with the awesome Brinca Means Jump, the ever-melodious Mr. Jason Dove and his Magic Whip, and last but never least, the Bakerton Group. All in progress in exciting bits and pieces. Oh yeah and I got called in at the last minute to do some mixing for the new Hidden Hand record too, that was a sweet treat.
Also scoring The Other Man, a short film by Zach Barocas, that's coming along nicely.
And recovering from last night's 1AM car accident, in which I was broadsided by an SUV only 4 blocks from my house on my way back from the studio. Doctor Robert got the worst of it I'm afraid, as he was in the passenger seat. But he's intact, just VERY shaken up.
Come to think of it, my neck does feel pretty stiff.
