Now THAT was a good couple of months. Not much in the way of regular sleep. Murder By Death stretched the limits of my little studio in the best possible way, and made a GREAT record, with Rahim hot on their heels doing the same (albeit with much less time), with brief but rewarding visits from Just a Fire, Imaginary Johnny (featuring Zach Barocas for about one more week, until his untimely departure from Brooklyn for Minneapolis), Miranda Sound, and Midnight Revival. And even an honorary sleepover from The Life and Times. Oh yeah, and I bought an 1176. And some music stands. And a wah wah pedal. And a kick-ass Yamaha "Manu Katche" brass snare drum ... and Zach says I can indefinitely borrow the drum kit from "For Your Own Special Sweetheart" (an old Ludwig Black Oyster Pearl Ringo Starr kit) if I can get it down here from Brooklyn before he moves. Amazing.
The
Report Suspicious Activity (Vic Bondi's band with me and Darren as rhythm section and now Erik Denno on guitar) record has finally seen the light of day on A/T and we are even set to rehearse in December. Shows in February?
Efforts are now redoubled to finish the Channels record - deadline is mid-December and that's all I am working on right now. Some lyrics left to write, some overdubs to overdub, and a LOT of mixing to do.
Why did I never see "Rosemary's Baby" until tonight? SO good. Roman Polanski, when he's got it, he's REALLY got it.
