Watching The Birds on TCM, drinking apple cider with rum. I haven't been on here in ages, days way too full recording Murder By Death for any blog time. Can't believe it's over - I miss those guys already. Their record is SO COOL. It was a pretty huge undertaking, with horns and gospel singers not to mention brilliant conceptual antics and badass playing & arranging by the band themselves. And some fuckin' great songs.
After we said goodbye to the MBD kids Janet and I went out to see Marc Ribot playing a solo guitar show here in Baltimore last night. He was great. You've got to love any show that encompasses Albert Ayler, "Your Cold Cold Heart," and stomping on baloons. Well, maybe not ANY show. But Marc Ribot was and is a real inspiration.
